CannaBasics: CBD? THC? What’s Right For Me?

Posted in: Cannabasics | Posted on: January 22, 2020

CBD? THC? Excuse me? When it comes to the lingo in the cannabis industry, sometimes it can leave you lost. Even if you do know what CBD or THC is, trying to remember exactly what each cannabinoid does can leave your head spinning and not in a good way.

So what are they?

THC

Tetrahydrocannabinol, aka THC, is the boss in charge of giving you that intoxicating experience which us regular people refer to as getting stoned or high as a motherflippin’ kite. THC is like that entertaining friend you have that is always down to expand your horizons. What you need to keep in mind when picking a strain is how much THC you want in your flower or edible!

CBD

Cannabidiol, aka CBD, is not only a little easier to pronounce; it’s the brakes to the cannabis car, so ebbing off the not so desirable effects of cannabis. It’s like inhaling a yoga class – functional, level headed and non-intoxicating. In addition, if you’re looking for the perks from cannabis without the intoxicating portion, then this is the cannabinoid for you.

Tying It All Together

OK, so we’ve talked about what they are, but did you know that they can work together to give you that balanced smooth high you’re looking for? On top of that, CBD is known to counteract the ‘high’ that THC generates. In our books, that makes CBD pretty darn cool. If you’re starting to feel a bit like greening out, you can always place a bit of CBD oil under your tongue and it can help ground you!

What’s Right For You?

You’re probably thinking “thanks for the explanation but what the heck is for me?” Great question! What we’ve covered above is what you’d be looking for if you wanted a “high” feeling, or if you’re looking for the more mellow, clear-headed experience. This is important for discovering what’s for you.

From there, when it comes to THC there’s a lot of strains to explore and what they can do for you is almost endless (OK that’s not true, of course, there is an end but bear with me). Every strain has different THC content and finding the one that works for you takes a bit of experimentation. THC is only one piece of the puzzle, exploring cannabis in an informed and intentional way is a great start to finding the one that works for you.

The choice comes down to what you’ve got planned this day – learning how to choose cannabis based on THC, CBD and Terpenes is a game-changer to your cannabis game.

No matter what you’re looking for, always ask your RARE Experience Guide to give you all the dirty deets on the strains available.
